Real companionship & practical support when needed most.
Human Time intends to connect individuals with a caring professional for consistent conversation, errands, appointments, and the moments that feel heavy to do alone.
A Companion Support Service for Adults
Human Time is in development, created to address one of the most overlooked needs in adult life:
Real, reliable human connection
We aren’t therapy or crisis intervention.
Instead, we offer structured companionship for adults who feel
lonely, isolated, or simply in need of someone to spend time with.
Why HumanTime?
Hundreds of thousands of adults in Aotearoa experience chronic loneliness.* Many fall through the cracks: not in crisis, but not okay either. Human Time exists to fill this gap with dignity, compassion, and presence.
There’s a gap in Aotearoa’s support system for adults who aren’t in crisis but aren’t okay either. Human Time offers intentional human presence to reduce loneliness and rebuild connection - funded through a mix of client choice, community donations, and sponsored sessions.
We are building a service where people can access support regardless of financial situations.

About the Founder
Josh Thomson
Founder & Lead Supporter
Human Time began from Josh’s own experience of loneliness and loss. Living in Ōwhango, he wanted to create something simple, a way for adults to find genuine connection without pressure or judgment. With a background in creative and community work, Josh leads Human Time with empathy, honesty, and care.
“I started Human Time because I know what it’s like to just need someone there. Not to fix anything, just to be human with you.”
Where We’re At
Right now, Human Time is in the
Community Consultation & Program Design stage.
We are seeking support, feedback, and connections to bring the pilot program to life in Taumarunui, Ōwhango, Raetihi, Ohakune, and surrounding communities.
Help us out? We need feedback:
We have a questioner to gather information from the community.
Things are hard out there, so as thanks, we have given is a chance to win a $50 voucher each month.
